PI cam swap on a 98Gt

I already did the livernois pi intake swap on my stang, and wow what a difference that made.(18peak hp gain and 35hp at 5500hp) I was just wondering what the gains are for the pi cam swap alone? Or would i be better off getting a aftermarket cam of sorts???

If your going to bother with cams you may as well get ones that are better than stock. Try vt stage 1 cams or comp cams

Haven't had any problems and power is very noticeable from 3200 to 5500 rpms. I used my stock valve springs with no ill effects.

Intake is next...

Same here. I have the 268H with the stock springs and logged over 2,000 miles with no problems. Valvetrain noise is pretty much zero. The power is great after 3,000rpm. It almost feels like a 2-stroke hitting its powerband. Like it was said earlier if you are going through the trouble get aftermarket cams. Plus you will have a nice lope to it. How was the Livernois kit? Did you do it yourself? I am really leaning towards it because I would hopefully like to have a blower soon.

When is it too late?

Is there a certain mileage when pi cams/heads/intakes should not be installed? I have 55,000 miles on my pony, and I am thinking about this whole pi swap idea, but is it too late for me? Also, can you just install a pi intake, without heads and cams? Would it make any difference over stock intake on my 98 gt?

Did you buy your cams and intake new or used? I see used pi heads/cams/intake all the time, but I dont know if I should buy used or new?

You can do it whenever. There are no pushrods or such that causes friction like the 5.0. You can put the PI intake on your stock NPI heads. Must people use RTV sealant very successfully and while other use adapter plates to fit the intake. There is a huge difference with the PI intake. It is a must do mod.

I was asking kboy if he did the pi intake swap without pi heads, cause he said its a must do mod, but its not in his sig. Does anyone know where you would get the adapter plates to fit stock heads with the pi intake?

No but I have friends that did with over 100,000 miles. I do not plan on doing a headswap because I do not want the bump in compression.

I though you were saying the whole headswap. Sorry. I do plan on the PI intake mod. I plan to use the Livernois kit because i want to use a blower in the future. The RTV sealant is good for N/A purposes, but when you are pushing air through it you will need more of a seal. There are many Dyno graphs online with just the PI intake on NPI heads. It helps out the breathing big time.

lol like 10 people put a thread so i missed a bunch I bought heads cams and intake for 600. They look to be perfect and off a 13000 mile lightning. I'm confused now though because I have been hearing anywhere from 35- 80 hp???can sum1 clear it up

If you are leaving everything stock such as PI cams, no Porting or Polishing, you should see around 45-50 rwhp. The intake and cams net about 30-35 while the bump in compression is around 10 extra rwhp.
