What are you running now then cause I find it hard to believe that 3800lb T-Bird went high 12's on a 4.6 auto without a huffer.

I added a few things to get it to the 12.98.

These must make as much differance as I have read that they do. Congrats on a nice run. A 12 second street car is alot of fun to drive. My problem always has been that 60' time.

And, I apologize to all for drifting off the thread.

Anybody have the crane cams? I saw a couple good articles in 5.0 and MMFF on Comp Cams, but nothing yet on crane.

to those running a Comp 268 cam,
how would you describe the idle, and,
was any prom/idle-rpm related changes needed?

Rio96:

I have 'em and I like 'em. Potato-potato-potato, or, if you prefer, pocketa-pocketa-pocketa is the new theme song. Good lope to them. The power improvement is very obvious starting around 1500 rpm and up. Mind you, I have only had the engine up to about 3000-3500 rpm (because it has not been tuned, I'm very conservative). A very fine mod, imho. No dyno results yet but I plan to get some new info. SCT flash tuner is coming so the tune will be in this week.

The cam swap is not too bad but you need plenty of time and patience. I used the AFM tool and my bride helped to keep pressure on the chain while swapping out the cams. Definitely a 2-person job!

BTW, "metroplex" has an excellent write-up at http://www .redpulsar.us/~coldfusion/. Take the space out after "www" and the link will work.

At present, the tune is needed to fix a low, low idle. It has stalled a few times (not cool in an auto) when coming to a stop or sitting at a red light. I do not think that the car will run satisfactorily with these cams without some tuning. (No tune should be necessary with the 262's).

The exhaust is significantly louder now and the "drone zone" has broadened somewhat, now between 62 to 65 mph, up from about 61 to 62 mph. Not a bad thing, just different than before.

New cam cover gaskets are a must, too. The old ones were a little brittle (32k miles).

Get cams. You won't be sorry. In fact, you'll wonder why you did not get them sooner!

so i just get a intake from a used non PI then put it on. Where do i get a adapter Plate?

HOw much should i expect from this HP and torque wise.

Ank links/direction relating to the intake swap would be helpfull.

You decide....idle...
right click..save as

And a WOT run from 20-120....
right click..save as

The low speed idle is a bit touchy-but nothing a bit of rubber hose cut to length, and placed over the throttle stop for a shim until I can get the idle part of the tune fixed. It definitely needs to have the 1-2 and the 2-3 shifts moved up some.

Here is my Comp 268H. Had them for awhile now (2,000miles) You will need a tune. The power difference is like night and day.
