PI Intake question

I know Livernoismotorsports.com sells a complete PI Intake kit but its too damn pricey.

Does anyone make sell just adaptor plates, bolts, coolant tube etc. I can get my own PI Intake off ebay or wrecking yard.

How much HP will just the intake get me? Will it be half of the 60 to 70 horse I am missing now?

Is it noticeable in lower or upper RPM range?

livernois I think will sell you just the plates for about 300 from what I have heard , they are the only people to my knowledge that make them , a few people have made there own but its very time cosuming and they arent as clean of a finish by the time they get done , if you dont buy the kit , you will have to get an aftermarket hood for clearance problems , the kit they sell has a machined down intake that will fit under the stock hood , thats one more reason it cost so much , if you want you can just use the NPI gaskets and alot of silicone and just bolt it down , do a search on here for threads on where to put the silicone , most have had good luck with NA cars , wouldnt do it on a nitrous or blown car though .....IMO buy the livernois kit , its expensive yes but trouble free and is a COMPLETE KIT .... key word...

'98 = 225hp
'99+ = 260hp

You're only missing 35hp. A gain of 20 horses would be nice but I've heard more. I don't know for sure though.

you don't need plates, i did the intake and cam swap for 290 bucks total including RTV sealant, and all little parts.

BTW my best time pre intake and cams was [email protected] with 40* temp and 80% humidity

with them I went to [email protected] with (get this . . .) 85* and +90% humidity!!!!!
(this is the only time i've been out with this done, and was having trouble with ignition system!!!)

yeah. intake swap was a cheap and quick bolt-on. but ya gotta seal it right, if not you'll have to start over like i did.

yes, i recommend using ALOT of RTV on the outside of the rubber ring around the port, i used over 1/2 tube then I put the bolts in finger tight, waited a while (about 1 hour or so so that the RTV could develop a "skin" then tourque the intake bolts down in sequence to 18-22 ft-lbs. then let the car sit for a few hours, drove it around a little at low RPM but didn't mash on it uutill the next day. Today it feels like a new car after 5000 RPM.
