Well this has got to be one of the most asked questions lol.. Im sure that someone will show you a thread on the "How to" guide but as for your other questions...
1st- I did the Full PI swap and i really wished i did more with the motor out.. Like PP and cams, with different pistons..
I did see a great power increase (215hp to 260hp or so)

Only advise i would give to you, is look long term.. it might cost you more now but save you alot later.. See now i have to build another motor to make me happy lol. i got used to the power and now i want more and to do so, i need another motor.. mine has been great for 25K miles now.. its got some good power down low with that higher compression...

I did the swap and love the different feeling. Also I put in VT stage 1 cams and longtube headers. When the motor is out would be the best time to do the swap. I waited and had to do them the hard way Overall the swap isnt too bad though, gotta use a few parts from each motor and swap them over to make it all work but its not too bad.

I'm in the same boat you are. Right now I am doing a PI swap but I'm going all the way with PP heads, BBK Long tubes, Comp cam camshafts (already had them), Trickflow upper plenum and a stock 2002 GT lower. Hoping for over 300 to the wheel when I'm done.
