ok guys here is what me and a friend accomplished over the weekend.

friday night me and slow95gt started tearing down my 98 for a pi head swap and longtube install. and finished around 11 last night. This is the last time i will ever try this crap with the motor in the car. we got the heads pulled, put BBK longtubes in, reinstalled the heads and i bet we spent 4 hours getting the damn longtubes bolted up. MAJOR PITA to get all the nuts tightened on the studs. anyways here is the combo and what it made this morning.

98 shortblock
FRPP headgaskets (install kit)
PI heads (light porting)
vt stage 2 cams (used but good)
unkown brand upper plenum and throttle body (bought used and he didnt know) looks kinda like the dragon ones but not sure.
BBK longtubes
motive 4.10 gears (made the most SOTP difference)
custom tune (over written on an old sct tune it already had)

slow95gt home ported the heads for me over the week. did a really clean job too. he has ported a bunch of 302 style heads and has done well in the past so i let him try it on mine and im happy with the results.

289 @ 5075/ 311 @ 4650

car was run with open longtubes BTW got to get an off road H or X for the bassani cat back. and the clutch started to slip after about 5 pulls also. but im over happy with the results. we set the car back to stock cause it had some preset tune with an xcal3 that came with the car but they got over written for the custom ones i had made this morning.

the first baseline pull was 268/290. i think im getting close to running out of injector. so after a new clutch which im regretting not putting in now since the longtubes are on im gonna get some 24's and try again. but over all are these numbers about right?

You need to datalog it and see what the injector duty cycle is - mine's at 94-97% and i don't have LT's. Your peak hp should be around 5700-6000 with those came me thinks.

If you have a handheld tuner and a laptop you can do it with a friend. That's what I do.

BK That is some nice numbers And verry impressive about the speed of the swap. Normally on here its something thats talked about for 6 months before someone does it, not the first week of ever owning one

I have a question though. You said it first laid down 289/311 and in your final tune it did 268/290. Why did you de tune it some? Were you having A/F problems?

Here are my numbers with almost the exact same setup. You should see higher #’s at a higher RPM. Look at my dyno sheet.

292 rwhp / 307 rwtq

1998 Mustang GT Auto

Modifications:

2001 ported PI heads
CMS Stage 2 n/a cams
C&L intake plenum
75mm throttle body
C&L intake elbow
Hooker long-tube headers
O/r X-pipe

Steeda u/d pulleys
24lb injectors
FRPP 9mm wires

Jerry @ Sutton HP in Mattson Illinois did the tuning with an X-CAL 3.
