The engine has 200k miles on it and I was just wondering if the condition was average for the mileage? The cylinder walls themselves look very good, but to me the amount of carbon seems excessive, what do y’all think? And is there a safe way to clean them up?

They don't look worn to me. They look pretty damned good except for the carbon buildup.

Each of those cylinders looks like it has good cross-hatch.

Is that water or oil that it's wet with?

The cooling system looks like it is/was a complete mess.

Water/ antifreeze because it drained out of the heads when we pulled them off. And yeah whoever owned this car before I don’t think ever bothered flushing the system so it’s kind of a disaster.should I try to get the carbon off or leave it?

Most of that will probably burn off once you get it running right.

I hope so, all of my plugs looked pretty good, minus one that looked like it had a little bit of carbon crusted on it, do you think it’s running lean possibly?

Oh alright, guess I had it flipped. I’m currently PI swapping it, will it be alright without a tune for a little while after it’s done or could I seriously screw something up?

I couldn't tell ya. What I can do is edit your thread title a little bit so that folks with PI swap knowledge will see your thread.
