Hi huys,im new to the forum. i just bought a 96 gt 5spd with full pi swap, it still has stock "h pipe" with welded FM 44's, Runs pretty good overall except at wot in 1-3rd gear it bogs down hard around 4k rpm. Its throwing the bank 1 catalyst below threshold effiency code, and was showing a misfire in cyl 1,replaced plugs& i checked plug wires & it had been pulled on from wire instead of boot and was .25" or more gap. So i got misfire solved. But still have the other code and bogging hard at 4k. I bought a new fuel filter to put on this weekend. Any thoughts? Could the stock cats be clogged up? Im not sure how hot car should run but it gets up middle of temp gauge & low coolant light comes on dash on & off

So, it looks like you've pulled codes.

It sounds like you need a tune-up: Plugs, wires... blah I do not recommend FMS or Accell wires. Get OEM or Jacobs. Some of these other guys might have some that they like.

Test all of the coil-packs:

Yes... A clogged cat can cause all kinds of strangeness.

Yea im gona check them out & put on a new fuel filter this weekend as long as it isnt raining. If there wasnt so many cats i would just gut them until i can get a hpipe for it. Then i will know for sure. It sucks because it has decent power, but once it hits 4k i have to let off. I need to get a drivers side fender dor it also. The guy side swiped something

I'm not sure what state you're in but none of that sounds like a good idea.

I would look around for new replacement cats or a complete exhaust system. Once you start screwing around with emissions and MIL eliminators and the like, things are just not the same.

If you're in a state that allows modified exhaust then get the whole thing. There's no benefit to mismatched exhaust parts on a vehicle that relies on good exhaust scavenging. Headers, mid-pipe, and cat-back. Until then you will likely throw codes.

With some planning, you can pick-up some eliminators and weld in test-pipes to hold you over. Performance will not be its best.

Im in sc. We dont have the inspections. But i think if a state trooper or county ever feels like checking they can give tickets for it.i have looked at a few different catted h pipes and headers for it. Just dont have the $ right now. Im selling one of my motorcycle's then im gona start getting everything to get it all fixed properly.
