When you get wheels + tires with about 70% tread for $150 you don't pass them up...
There is a long story behind the car ad the guy I bought it from. I will post that when I get time to type it up.

So, here goes nothing. I am not too much of a story telller, but I may as well try to write one...

So, the whole story behind this car started about march...

My buddy who is a member on this forum, bought a new O/R H-pipe due to the fact he lives in Idaho and the state does not require inspection. He posted it up online, and a few weeks later he got a call from a guy that was interested. They agreed to meet about half way in the middle, (about 50 miles each way). My buddy waited for about two hours for the guy to get to the spot. When he did arrive, he tried to pay him over paypal, seeing how he did not have the cash. He said he sent the money, and my buddy pulled up paypal on his phone, and it did not say that the money was there. Apparently the guy was acting very sketchy while waiting for it to go through, with him and his girlfriend in the car, they kept lifting the center console up for some oddball reason. The money didn't go through, so my buddy just left.

So, towards the end of august, I decided to sell my 4Cyl DD coupe. I was on the hunt for a week or two for a 5.0 fox, with a very small budget... I had been scouring KSL (local state wide classifieds and cars). I seen it when i started to look for one. It was on there for $2500, with only one photo of the clearcoat faded hood... The ad was not very detailed, said it had a bad valve seal, exhaust, caster camber plates, about a month later when i did sell my car, I was looking again, couldn't really find anything in my price range, so I looked at some of the ads from a few months ago, and it was still on there, this time for $1500... I was going to go down at 5PM that day to look at it, hoping to get it for $1400. I decided it wouldn't be a good idea to go down so late. So i decided to wait till the next day around noon to go, so me my fox buddy, and my other mustang buddy, decided to take a drive down, I told him we were going to drive from Idaho. He had the car stored on the side of his aunt's house, and it had not been started or driven for 3 months, (due to the fact he could not get it to pass emissions).

So we get down there, and instantly, the guy says, I had a feeling that it was going to be you. We went and checked it out, I started looking at it a little more, and it had about a 2.5 foot crack all the way across the bottom of the windshield, bald ass tires (cords showing). I checked out the torque boxed, the floor pans, and man, this car was rust free!!! I proceeded to ask why he was selling it, and he told me, he couldn't get it to pass inspection, and needed money. I had him open the door, I looked inside, and it didn't seem too bad, it was dirty with his stuff, and it needed a good shampooing, but everything was there besides for the center console arm rest. I asked to see under the hood, he popped it, so i began to scour. I seen caster camber plates, maf conversion, BBK shorty headers, aluminum radiator, clutch quadrant, I was thinking eh, I don't know. I had him fire it up, and it fired right up!! And all I heard was nothing but flowmasters, and loapiness, i was thinking hmm.. It may have a cam. I took it on a test drive on the highway near where the car was, laid into it pretty hard, and it smoked under load. I went back and kinda acted like I was not interested. He began telling me that he had a local tire shop do some work. He told me that it had all new shocks all the way around, new wheel bearings, and new bushing in the rear. He opened the hatch, and it was pretty torn up, Had a silver hatch on the car with a different lock, inside, the paneling was off, but there. I looked underneath the carpet, and i seen a big ass ni**er beater, and a box, the box said energy suspension on it, I was thinking hell yeah! Then I talked to a few of my buddies, and i really wasnt too interested... But they said try and pick it up for 12 i am sure that will be the lowest he will go... I then went on scouring again, pointing out all of the little thing that needed to be fixed in the car, the speedometer or odometer didn't work, bald tires, windshield, then I asked if he would pull the plug out of cylinder #8, it had buildup on the plug like i figured for a bad valve seal, me and my friend went on to tell them that we would have to pull the head to fix the seal. It was GAME ON!!!! We were there for about an hour, my buddies kid was playing with his kid. Then I sat on the curb looking kinda stressed, and i just kept saying to one of my friends... "I don't know so much about this man....".

I began to talk pricing with him, I told him I don't think I could give him the full asking price seeing how what needed to be done to the car. I asked him what his BOTTOM LINE PRICE was, he said a grand. I asked him if he had the title inside, he said yes. I told him immediately that i would give him $900 cash now. He went on and said "you got $100's or $2o's?" I told him both, he said he didn't like $20's. I thought F*ck yeah!!! He said yeah, he needed money for rent this month. what an idiot this fella is!!! He began to clean all of his crap out of the car, (did leave me an ashtray full of change and the Ni**er beater in the back.). He asked me if I wanted the receipts, i said i sure do. the receipt stack was about two inches high. Then I randomly asked about how the police were down that way. He said, i quote, (they will harass you if you have drug charges). He also told me that every time he got pulled over they brought a drug down around the car, one time they did get a hit on something, he told me, (the dog sniffed out a wrapper of heroin under my seat). I was thinking holy , a drug car. He cleaned all out and I was almost on my way, the last words he told me, was "if you get pulled over and they find drugs in the car, you didn't buy the car off of me.) I was thinking FML, i hope i don't get pulled over. So I left, i drove straight home, parked the car.

The next day I went and got some subway for me and my grandpa, and i seen my old school resource officer, and the same cop that gave me a MIP a month ago, I told him what the situation is with my car, and asked if I took it to the police if they would have a drug dog sniff it out, and get anything illegal out of the car without getting myself in trouble, he said "yes thats fine, bring it down to the police station tomorrow at 1."

The next day, I took it to the cop shop, asked for the K-9 unit, and he was not there, the dispatcher told me that she can't call him in for something like that cause she has to pay him OT. told me to come back tomorrow between 11-3. The next day i came back, talked to the cop, (which is a complete *******), He had me pull it in the back where all the police men park (immediately said, damn, she sure does sound good), then he asked if i had drug charges, which I told him no. he told me to step back to the curb, and proceeded to get the dog out, I told him it was fine if he let the dog in the car, and told him the spots to point the dog out to, (mainly the center console). The dog did not get a hit on anything, stupidly, the guy walked up to me with the dog on the leash, and it scared the out of me when it came up and started to lick my hand. We walked over by the car, and he began lecturing me on how i shouldn't hang out with "dopers". Told me that it is like cigarette smoke, and sticks to your clothes for 4 hours, then stick on your seats. I was thinking to myself, "why are you accusing and harassing me on hanging out with dopers". He told me that I should rip the car apart, and clean everything very well. I then thanked him for his time, and went on my way.


The next day, I went and picked up some wheels and tires. I also went and got the car registered and got a temp tag till i could get a new windshield. When I got back from getting the tires, I went and seen my mom, and took my stack of receipts to look through them, inside the receipts, i found 3 impound fee receipts, and two bail bonds receipts, I was thinking holy , the P.O. was a criminal. I also found a prescription for methadone, and immediately destroyed it. I found some good receipts, and sorted all the ones with warranties on them into a nice folder.

Me and a friend split the receipts in half, and proceeded to add them up, between both of us, there was a little over $2500 is receipts... I then said to him, "practically i stole this car!!".

Well that kind of sums it up a little, besides the fact that I have been pulled over a couple times for stupid stuff (only had my running lights on, i thought i was getting pulled over because i pulled out of a parking lot onto the main road, going sideways for about 300 FT.) He gave me a warning on that, and a ticket for not changing the address on my drivers license. A few weeks later, on the way to work at 6 AM, i got pulled over cause the cop who followed me for 3+ miles, said he ran my plates and it said it was reading no insurance, which i gave him my insurance card. All was well.

I am pretty happy with the car and how it does, it handles really well for being so old, (definitely needs SFC's).

I figured for $900 and the $250 I had to put into it to get it to pass safety, I can't complain.
