Picked up another Fox...

While it is technically a Fox Chassis, it isn't a Mustang.

1980 Fairmont Futura! I had one of these as my first car. I have been looking for only 2 weeks. I posted a CL add looking for one a guy had one close to where I grew up. The wifey and I drove over there today to look at it and it has been sitting since 2003. the shock towers are in great shape, the floor is a little bad in some places typical for fox cars. The trunk is perfect with a little scale in the spare tire well. I paid only $200 for it. I think I am going to swap in the 87-93 stuff from my 93 for the dash. Build a nasty little 302, and I just picked up another V8 T5 for almost free (better deal then the $7.30 T5 from last week).

I am going to do 5-lug swap, nice interior, sick engine, and 5-speed (as they are falling from the heavens like mana). I am so happy! What do you all think? give me some ideas for this thing...

All I have is time. Not going to be driving the thing tomorrow or anything. It will allow me a chance to perfect my bodywork skills or lack there of. Like I said, the floors and that quarter are the only real bad parts. I have done floorpans in fox's before, not hard. plus i can install the through the floor SFC's. the quarters will be the challenge. but since i am going to trim the lip anyway to make room for some 275's, it will need to be done. the bloooooo interior is going to be GONE! I might do a black fox dash or another SN95 dash. Dont know. I have alot of options to play with. I will try my best to keep a log of the progress....

My wife had one in college til she blew the engine. Looks like thats where it ended up :)
The law of diminishing returns may start to apply here. Hope you dont end up spending more to fix it than it would cost you to buy a show quality one. Good luck brother you got large ones to take on that. hope it works out for you. Start a resto thread.
