Picking out a new Camera...*Woot*...Need Input

So, i have alot of best buy store credit from gives over the last year and since i don't buy video game or computer stuff (I use Apple) i decide i am going to put it toward a new digital camera. Since i take alot of car photo shots i want to get a 7 or 8 Mega Pixel canon. I love my canon SD100 i have right now but its only 3.2 mega pixels and old.

any input on what camera i should buy. I do not want to spend more than $500 and it must be a canon

$500 is basically the low cut off for an SLR. if you're going to spend up to that much, you mind as well get an real camera...an SLR.

Im getting a digital rebel xt for xmas about $600 flat if you get it offline.
