the lighting ain't the greatest but i'm just testing out posting pics...get better ones later.

well...it worked for once. sorry they're a little dark, the sun was going down and i wanted to just get the pics taken. the first is a look at the carbon fiber weave, in the direct sunlight, it's the same color as the car. looks like snake skin though. the second it just a side profile from the front.

i was going to paint the hood in the same style as the SA-20 but once i got the hood on there i figured that it looked good as it was. i took a risk when i bought it because i know a lot of people don't like carbon fiber and many think it's too ricey... especially a purist and on a mustang.

i don't recommend my hood for everyone. i think black and the mineral grey i have are about the only colors i would risk it on, unless they painted it. but that would go against having carbon fiber in the first place. the color of the weave and the gold and bronze flake in the cars paint match up well.

Looks good :)

Can I ask where you got your hood from, and do they make a "Saleen style heat extractor" type hood?

I know somebody who might be interested in that.

Thanks!

thanks for the compliments...

the hood is made by a company called Vis Racing, based out of california. i did a lot of looking around and they were the only ones i found that make carbon fiber hoods for the mustang. they are the leaders in the carbon fiber business and i was impressed with their customer service. i ordered it standard like anyone else and had it here in georgia from cali. in about 2 days. here's the link to the Vis page for stang hoods:

ok, i tried the link above and it's not working. go to visracing.com and look for their carbon fiber hoods on the left menu. follow the lead until you get to ford and then the mustang.

the company will come off as importy obviously, but look around the site. the hoods are top notch and they make them for a ton of cars and trucks. the hood was NOT cheap by any means but at the time i bought it i had money to blow and blow it i did. it came with Sparco polished hood pins that i didn't even use, if anyone wants them, lemme know.

if you click on the link above, you'll see a red stang there with the heat extractor CF hood. don't know what saleen is charging for that but these guys make it and the hood comes ready to paint. if i got the heat extractor i'd for sure paint it like the SA-20 hood, that thing looks awesome.

Actually, that price is awesome for a hood. I just called them:
Part # 99FDMUS2DGT-010C
Cost: $540.00
Shipping: $110.00

Compared to Saleen... $799.00 + shipping, The drawback appears to be the mounting wont handle the OEM latch and you have to use the pins. Which I was going to ask. You mentioned you didnt use them? How are you holding the hood on?

i read that on there when i bought the hood and was worried about it. but when i put the hood on i had no problems with the stock latch assembly. i bolted the hood on the factory hinges and was not able to shut the hood. i figured that's why they said you need hood pins. BUT, the problem was the little black rubber ball adjusters above the headlights, where you would drill for the hood pins. we adjusted those for five minutes twisting this one so much and that one so much. they adjust the height of the hood...so after fooling with them the hood closed and latches just like the OEM hood. if anyone orders the hood, skip the pins unless you really need them. i haven't had the slightest problem since i put it on there and no hardware transfer was required.

I need pins for my hood, the stock latch died, so the hood flew up and broke my cowl :( are you giving the pins away? if so, I'd be glad to pay shipping if you'll send them over.

Beautiful car by the way, I think the CF looks good with your car, though I don't like it with most other colors. :)

thanks - the car has not been lowered anymore than saleen does from the factory. the official color is mineral grey...i think it's a gunmetal grey myself with bronze or gold flake in it.

i'll sell my hood pins cheap...PM you later, don't have time at the moment.
