Well Guys, I got 5 hours to work on the car tonight so I got one head put on. Alot has happened since I last put pics up on here. I got 4 new stock 99+ 17s and wrapped the rear in 275/40 Nitto Drags and wrapped the front in 245/45s. I love them they make the car look mean, yeat I dont know how they work, well you see why. I have ported and polished many heads and after some SERIOUS debating with myself I am going to stay NPI. I think PIs are great, but there isnt a good cheaper way to lower compression that has been completely tested. I hope to go with the FRPP intake enentually so I am not worried about the NPI intake being my limiting factor. I ported the intake ports to the gasket size and finished them with 60grit wheel and took out the hump right in the middle of the port. The exhaust side is gasket matched also and finished with 120grit for a mirror finish. I was going to put the other head on the motor, but I bought 2 right headgaskets, also something is differant about them? I bought all felpro gaskets yet one side is in a pack that say Permatorque MLS and the other right gaskets package say just permatorque even though they are both MLS. The one with MLS in the name is black and looks like the same gasket, but is made completely differant which makes me question if one is better? Anyway, once she get back together I am off to TandJ for a little tuning so that I can take advantage of the water injection! YEAH!

you are putting a regular plastic PI intake on it right ?? you just going to silicone the water jackets alot or what ?? custom gaskets , I would hate to see it get on the dyno and start leaking ..

This will be interesting to see what improvement it makes. All you here is about PI heads. I have often thought about buying some NPI heads dirt cheap and port them opposed to paying 1000.00 for PI's. I 'll bet they flow and you gain alot of power.

I would port the ones on the car but to buy a set to port , if you buy anything BUY the PIs , you can get the heads themselves complete new for under 800 some places with PI cams another advantage .

cool ... nice pics and good info.

but i have to say i am curious about something ... what's with the tail lights? do you just like the horizontal ones more? usually the 4.6 guys prefer the vertical ones because that is an indication that they have a mod motor ... people see the horizontal ones and immediately think "5.0".

i have read and heard that the main bottleneck on the 96-98s is the intake, not so much the heads. i also remember seeing an article somewhere recently that said the 96-98 heads actually flow better than the PI heads in the upper rpms -- it has something to do with the shape of the ports. i'm very interested to hear about your results ...

I talked to Drew1287 in the past about the samething. He told me that the car came with the cheesy Euro lights in the rear and I believe he sais he got a good deal on the "5.0" tail lights.
