I'm wanting to get a couple of subs for my hatchback fox. I'm looking at a couple of twelves but I could go with just one. I'd like to see some pics of people's systems.....in floor or seperate box. Give me some ideas.

I like the subs in the floor but haven't researched enough to figure out what I want to do.

Since I'm in a pic whoring mood, LOL:

It's one of my own design. I robbed a couple gauge "bullets" from the parts inventory of my small business, and made this up by hand. This is what I normally use them for (as shown on a 2005 GT coupe):

I actually have plans to sell these one day, just making some changes to ensure they are as good as possible if they go on the market.

Alan, that is exactly what I'm talking about....I can tell that the floor has been raised, I'm guessing about 4-6 inches. That would be ok with me if I did the same thing. Have you seen it done with two subs in the back of these cars? Do you have to say goodbye to the spare (it seems like it would be pretty hard to get it now)?

Also, where did you get those door panels? I just replaced my speakers in the doors and I hate the factory speaker covers....they won't fit b/c of the tweeter on the speaker. I just need to replace both door panels and put custom grills on.

I don't think you would need two if it's a hatch. Just throw in 1 12" JL with a bridged amp and it will hit like a mother.

Good eye. The floor was raised roughly 4 inches (including false panel). Spare tire is gone; I never drive the fox without my cell phone, ever! Not that I don't trust it.... lol

Here's an OLD pic of a system that never was. Three 10" subs and a motorized "rotisserie" amp rack. Too much weight overall for me, and it ended up on the curb.

I made the door panels in my driveway.

If you do an advanced search for my username you'll find a thread called "return of custom audio build diary" or something very similar. It has a step by step with pics of the entire install, fyi.

Alan :nice:

This is very true. The setup above is one JL Audio 12W6-V2 driven by a Phoenix Gold MPS-2240. It did 137 dB in its sound quality tune at a recent USACi show (last summer). I can have "ghetto bass" with the twist of a knob. You never know when you might need it...

I searched and only found references to the thread. I'll try again later when I have more time.

sorry alan, i guess i should have been just a little more specific. my real questions were...what size gauges, what pods, and did you have to drill into the dash?

Autometer 2 1/16" gauges (boost/fuel psi). I made the pods myself, and yes, I did drill into the dash. :nice:
