I'm so fed up with this crap. I just want my baby back. Guy has had it for more than a week! REALLY!!!!....... c'mon man...... shouldn't it be fixed by now? He can't even tell me when he expects it to be done becuase we don't know when the f*ing part is coming.

All that came up in a google search for " t-45 throwout bearing retainer sleeve"

As to the question of if the t45 and t56 throwout bearing sleeve is the same, I wouldn't ask LMR. I'd ask these guys

I'll never own another SN95.
Just wondering.... How much did you pay for your 1997? How much less $$ is your 1997 than a new car?

My take. I have several older cars. And sometimes my cars spend a ton of time sidelined waiting on parts. Especially if ordering parts from cheaper online parts houses (yes. I'm uber cheap). Which is why I have more than one cheap older cars to use.

IMO it's unreasonable to expect a 22+ year old car (of virtually any make/model) to be as reliable as a new(er) car. If high reliability is a prime requirement for you then a new(er) car should be considered.

Note2; I also suspect that many other make/model cars would be more difficult to keep on the road after 22 years. Why? Because the Mustang enjoys a HUGE fan base as well as after market parts suppliers. The long life of the Mustang is due to standing on the shoulders of it's massive fan base. Where other cars would likely already be in the "crusher" due to a lack of parts or repair help.

I personally make a trade off in reliability for a reduction in costs. I prefer to pay for repairs as I go instead of paying up front for a new car. Since I do almost all of my own repairs the labor is free. Buying parts at a discount saves even more. But the down time is part of the trade off.

Found an awesome guy up in Atlanta who machines this part out of steel. That's who I'm going with. Pro-Force is the name of his business. Real nice guy. My tran guy says he has purchased the part and that it is shipping (was supposed to be here Friday) so I'm hoping that Monday it comes on in. I don't know whether or not to go ahead and just wait on that one or order from my Pro-Force as mentioned above. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have an extra one in case it breaks again.

I don't even know what a thread is. Sorry bout that.

This container of posts is a 'thread'. I merged your other two threads that are about the same thing, into this one. You don't create a new 'thread' because you want to ask a question. You ask all of your questions within a single thread unless they are completely unrelated (say, two different cars with separate issues).

When you start spitting out new threads all over the place then one or more may contain information about your topic that are not in the others. That's no way to diagnose an issue. Put [all] your questions and related information into one place so that the folks who try to help you have as much info as possible.

Ahhhh..... gotchya! Thanks for combining them foe me :-)
I just simply can't understand why the guy said "oh the part is supposed to be here Friday" and it never showed. I don't want to completely piss him off or be to pushy because I want him to do a good job on my car. Do you think it would be appropriate to ask for a tracking number or something just to know where the part is or IF it has even shipped? I don't have much experience with older vehicles (all of my others were under Dealer service plans or warranty). Maybe I'm over analyzing the whole thing and being to obsessive. I assume that when someone says "I have already ordered and paid for the part it should be here on X day" that the part in question is in fact on its way. My luck, it's on some eternal back order list never to be seen again. I am a walking example Murphy's Law. Currently, my plan is to wait until Monday afternoon to see if the part arrives. If not, I will be ordering one from Pro-Force and having it rush delivered. Then, I'll simply take it to the mechanic and say "here ya go put it on". Someone mentioned though that some mechanics don't like using parts that they didn't order because most have a trusted supplier or source. Not knowing whether my part is good or not may pose an issue. What say you? Thanks by the way for your patience. I appreciate all of the input that I've received so far!

I think you need to reach over and pull your throttle back down to Military Power versus keeping it rammed up against the firewall.

The dude that is working on your car has no control over when or if the part shows up. Calling once a day toward the end of the day to see if it arrived, I think is acceptable. Beyond that, yeah... I think you're getting yourself squarely into "Pain in the Ass" territory.

I say this because: Look at the all of the references to it in just this thread.

Parts can be a pain in the ass sometimes. Don't take those stresses out on the dude that's working your car. Until the part arrives, it is out of [both] of your hands.

I gave $3900 cash for the car. he was initially asking $4300, but, due to a few interior cosmetic details and the fact that we both thought it needed a tensioner pulley, he came down on the price. The exterior is 9/10 and interior 7/10. Needs some shampoo on the carpet and the seats are a bit dry. Cold AC and hot heat. 2 owner, carfax verified. No accidents. clean title with detailed maintenance records.
