Welp I finally made some progress in my AOD ---> T5 swap yesterday, got the new rear main seal, pilot bearing and flywheel all installed in the short time I had to work on the car...the only thing is that it seems like I can't get the pilot bearing in totally straight, to me it looks like its slightly out at the top. I used a small piece of wood to tap on with a hammer trying to get it to go in straight but it still seems crooked...I even tapped lightly around it with a hammer to coax it in that last little bit.

Basically my question is that if it is ever so slightly cocked, will it really cause me too much trouble, such as wear on the input shaft or vibrations?? Should I take it out and get a new one and try again?

I feel stupid because I know alot about cars but this is my first time flying solo on a clutch/trans job. I've almost always worked with the help of others before this so I just wanna make sure I've got it right before I get it all together.

kthxbye :nice:

WAS your pilot bearing made in USA? I had a made in China pilot bearing come apart and chew up the input shaft of my Tremec 3550.

The new pilot bearing I installed was a Federal-Mogul or Timken. I wold not use a made in China on anything I planned of keeping.

I just did this swap last weekend :D
My pilot bearing went in pretty straight though, no prob's there.
Couple things I noticed, I was able to use the cross member and insulator from my AOD on the T5 I put in.
I didn't swap the EEC either. My car has an A9P in it and it runs just fine.

The close ratio T5 and 3.73's are a really nice match :D This things a BLAST to drive
