The cowl has a bunch of pine needles in it. I just noticed it yesterday, does anybody know how you can get into there. I definately want to get them out, breeding ground for rust for sure. Thank you, Lu

Best guess is probably compressed air from you compressor hose with a nozzle. Get out what you can that way, (wear safety glasses) then use a pair of really long needle nose pliers. Snap On makes a good pair about 10 in long and thin.

yep, lots of water and air with the fenders off...I've been trying to figure out how to remove the peeling paint from my Mach 1's cowl so I can POR-15 it and top coat it before it ends up like a '60s Mustang with a leaky cowl.

Blow compressed air in through the louvers in every direction possible, to loosen up the debris.
Tape cardboard over most of the cowl, leaving one end open slightly, and then duct tape a shop vac hose to the opposite end. If the shop vac is powerful, it should suck air from one end to the other, bringing most/all of the crap out with it. If its being stubborn, remove parts of the cardboard cover and blow compressed air through the louvers as the shop vac is running.

Blue Thunder; that sounds that that might work. And then when it's time for us to take the fenders off for painting, I can go ahead and get the rest, if any, out then. Let me ask you guys this, where is the drain for the cowl anyway? As if, if it was'nt plugged to begin with, when it rains where does the water drain too. Thank you, Lu

possible fire

Make sure you do clean it out ASAP! I had a situation with a 78 coupe 4cyl. where I had too many pine needles come into contact with something Hot under my hood or in my electrical system and the Whole inside of the car filled up with smoke! Scared the CRAP out of me while I was driving. I was near my parents houes, pulled in and soaked the car down with the water hose. I beleive somehow it had to do with the cowl being so Open! Has anyone ever thought of putting a screen or something on the Underside of the cowl? Maybe even somehow convert our Cowls to be removeable? Heres a thought! make the whole thing removeable from ender to fender, you have to remove wipers and open hood to remove it. The cowl slides under windsheild chrome and is fastened on with screws that you can only see when hood is open? Oh well, Just a thought!
