I had to start a new thread b/c of the server crash.

Good News/Bad News:

Bad: Both my nephew's car and Daughter's Each only won ONE trophy.

GOOD: They EACH won FIRST PLACE!!!

Nephew got first in Speed, Daughter got first in Design.

In the race for first, my Nephew's car won by a good 1/2 to full length over the 2nd place car.

Here's some pics:

Just wanted to put this pic in. I thought the Dale car might win first for show, but I think the leaders did NOT choose it because they were afraid it might be disqualified in the state finals. (due to it's size...I included the car next to it in the pic for comparison)

Both cars are going to states for the respective divisions.

well thats no fun...

I wouldnt have chosen the dale car just for the fact I never liked him, and the same feeling goes for his son.

congrats, I guess bling runs in your family!

There's no way the dale car was legal, it doesn't even resemble a pinewood derby car. It was nicely done though.

Well, the guy said he "added" wood to the base of the car, but I said earlier that I saw the undercarriage, where he hollowed it out to shave weight, and it looked like one continuous piece of wood.

As far as states, the black car I think has a chance to win something, because it beat the second place car pretty easily.

If the design cars are anything like last year's, the green one I think "could" get a second or third. There is always Some car there that is so extreme, that it would be hard to beat.

Thanks
RC

That is so much fun both building them and racing them. I am a Cub Scout den leader and we just recently had out competition. My son won his age group and he was also awarded the best design...

Funny/sad part is, even though I knew the my daughters was for show and my nephew for go, they just HAD to put them both in the FIRST round in the same heat My daughter lost and I wanted to cry, since I made the car that beat hers. When she lost the race for 3rd, she ran up to the stands and started balling her eyes out because she "couldnt go to states"

I told her the winners werent announced yet for show, and that best in design could also go to states.

Then when she won she was excited.

So at least we have 2 chances to win.
