Ok, first off...94 GT/ auto / 150k miles / headers / h-pipe / flowmasters / pulleys / shortened belt (no a/c)

Now... ran a furious 16.0 on 1/4 mi track! At track I tried to bump timing to 17, 14, 12, 10 and back to it's present location: 7. The problem is a sqeal that seems to be coming from the valvetrain. Originally I thought it was a spark-knock or ping as I discovered the plugs were triple platinum. At this time I replaced plugs with a standard core, full tune-up, and with the forums advise I replaced the MAF (stock) as well. At 7 degrees I get min. sqeal around 2800-3200 rpm usually on a downshift/kickdown. This happens at normal engine temp. and worse on hotter days. I've experienced this before on older 302's with too much timing (not this case) or borderline over-heating issues (not my case either), any suggestions? Bad lifter or pushrod? It's a solid audable sound like a knock or ping, but it's not a rod knock sound. When car is at idle and in park, I can hit the pedal and get same result and it seems to be coming from top end. Also after this rmp band of 2800-3200 it smoothes right back out? Mid-grade fuel, no premium but not cheap stuff. I'm clueless and need help. It's a nice daily driver and still has a clean throttle response, but the noise means issues, how bad of an issue is what I'm trying to find out!

Pull the valve covers and turn her on and trace the noise from there (yes it's messy). Also check your harmonic balancer it is very possible it has spun and giving a you a false reading of true timing (if rubber is coming out/wobbling replace asap).

Well said...but is it a high pitched squeel or squeek...is your belt too long/loose?
