So i went to take off my door strip protectors becuase I knew how much better it would look with them off. I got the one side off great and go to take the other one off and it ripped a strip of paint off too. I did it at night with a large spotlight up becuase night time is really the only time I have to do anything. Just wanted to let you guys know how extremely pissed I am.... What the hell should I do. Im gonna have to get my whole damn door sprayed now. How much will this cost Do you think?

I really know nothing about painting cost. I know it's expensive for a decent job but really have no idea even range. Are we talkin probably around 3-400 for the door? more, less? It a strip about 4 inches long and like less than .25 inch wide, not that that would matter anyway. How could I be so stupid. Man. I should now start a thread, What was the first damage you caused to your car?

yeah yano well I thought about that but I would rather just keep it off. Well, depending on what it's gonna cost me. Luckily that is the only spot on the car really with any other scratches, like 2 minor dings, so maybe It is a blessing in disguise and I will just paint it.

If it costs too much you could buy some touch up paint for cheap and touch it up. If it is only a quarter of an inch wide by four inches, it won't be too noticeable. At least until you can afford to paint the whole door.

Like other said $200-$400, unless you live near Ft. Leonard Wood in MO in which case PM me and I'll hook you up with a good price at my shop.

What color is your car? I had to have my door repainted when it got keyed last year. It cost me $550 for Laser Red. He said if my car was a different color it would have been cheaper.

WOW, the same thing happened to me last friday!....im still pissed beyond belief aswell. Maybe your door has been repainted like mine has. I have to get my doors redone anyways because my clearcoat is also pealing off. the damage is 581$ IF both doors need to be painted. I only pulled one off and then i left the other one because of what happened lol

If it were me, I'd put them back on. I know they're ugly, but if you can't afford a paint job, you can delay it until you can.

Check these guys out. I've delt with the Bartlett shop many of times and they do Phemonual body work. They are a bit pricey but its worth it. link to website....

--Scupking, sorry Mine is colorado red clearcoat. Didn't see you ask.

--Superstang, sorry to hear about your issue to but it sucks alot does it, really horrible feeling, especially if you take car of your car so well and it is in such good condition, you know?

--Navarro, thanks alot for the site I'll look into it. I took it over to a local body shop to get an estimate but they were full for today so I go back tomorrow morning.

I would have put them back on but the adhesive was all pulled apart and stretched and wouldnt have looked right. They got kinda bent too when I took em off. My problem was that I did the first one, with such ease and it came off perfectly I got stupid and tried to do the second one faster, since It was dark I didn't realize what was happening. I'll try n get some pics but I hate to look at it...

damn, that's a pisser. Did realize you bent them up. looks like you've got no choice but to get it sprayed. Red is especially tough to match, hopefully your paint hasn't faded much.

Until you get it repainted try some Turtle Wax Color Cure for red paint. It will dye the problem area red and make it less noticeable.
