I have an engine as given to me. I was told that it was kept in a barn away from rain. Well I go to take the heads off (which I am not going to use) and the freakin cylinder walls are rusted badly. So I cleaned them up as best I could, took of the rod caps and tried to tap the pistons out. The stupid things won’t move. I have done this several times in the past and never have I had this much trouble. Can someone help me with this?

Either penitrating oil or regular oil liberally applied to the tops (and bottom) of the pistons.

You'll need to let the oil soak the rings for about 1 day and then rotate the motor and hit the bottom of the pistons with an oil can (if possible)

somebody said it already, automatic tranny fluid works great on this. i once locked a motor up while showing it to a potential buyer. i put a new dizzy in it and a jammed it in there without making sure the oil pump rod lined up. i reved it a few times and it quickly locked up. poured that in the cylinders and it sat overnight and worked.
