Anyone know where to get a good built automatic trans for a 98 mustang gt? Saw a place called monster transmissions, are they any good. Whats a decent price for one?

What is the extent of damage on your current transmission?

Once mine failed, I got it rebuilt though upgraded at the same time, rather than actually purchasing another 4r70w.

Mine is fine, just debating on going the built transmission route first or the built motor first. What you think? Is getting yours rebuilt with upgraded performance parts the cheaper route? And how hard is it to upgrade yourself, I swapped my own heads cams intake so think im pretty mechanically inclined. I should be I work in a tooling room.

Yes. But no need to do so until you have problems or you're running enough power to be scared of it turning into effectively an anchor.
For now get a stacked plate trans cooler and a valve body revamp such as the Jmod or a shift kit. Start with the engine otherwise.

Yea I wouldn't build your auto yet. I went 11.6s with a bone stock auto making 450rwhp.

Yeah and thats where about I want to be when all said and done. I might be picking up a cheap Teksid aluminum block soon to start my forged bottom end. One more question, what does it run to have a shop put a forged rotating assembly in a bare block? Just labor.
