plastic caps on end of injectors

okay just finished up my engine with gt40p headsported and polished stokc lower ported to the max and polished runs great but when it get hot after driving it for a half hour its starts acting like its missing and stuttering if i stomp on it the car will go i put a few of the injectors in without the plastic caps because they were broken will this effect the way the engine runs? and if so were can i get some i checked the local parts stores:Track: with no luck
 
The pintle caps have no effect on performance. Their sole function is to keep the injector lower O ring from sliding off the injector and falling into the intake port. If the correct pintle caps are used, they do not have any effect on the injector spray pattern.

Fuel injector seal kits with 2 O rings and a pintle cap (Borg-Warner P/N 274081) are available at Pep Boys auto parts. Cost is about $2.74 per kit.. The following are listed at the Borg-Warner site ( http://www.borg-warner.com ) as being resellers of Borg-Warner parts:

Use motor oil on the O rings when you re-assemble them & everything will slide into place. The gasoline will wash away any excess oil that gets in the wrong places and it will burn up in the combustion chamber.

The pintle caps fit either injectors with a pin sticking out the injector end or 4 with more tiny holes in the injector end

Heating the pintle caps in boiling water makes it much easier to install them.
