I bought a re-pop steel replacement front valance for my 67 a little while ago, of course it was a cheap piece of crap and it just did not fit at all, even my body man said "throw it away and get a new one" so he has talked me into going for the R-type valence with the cutout for the radiator. In my searches I have came accross two different kinds, a fiberglass and a plastic one. Has anyone here had any dealings with these panels? Any suggested brands? I know that all the fiberglass I have bought so far has had to have extensive work done to it to make it fit right, so I'm a little apprehensive about buying more glass....any help is appreciated, if I don't find what I'm looking for, im just going to buy an original tooling factory front valance and stick on there. Thanks

The OT is the way to go. I haven't seen a fiberglass panel that fit as well as the steel panel you don't like.

I had good luck with a repop valence, it fit fine and I had a trans cutout done to it. If I do another (want to add brake ducts) I'll probably buy the OT and do trans cooler cutout and brake ducts.
Jon

I should have taken a pic without the driving lights I was testing to see if I liked the look, pulled them out and will probably put them in/behind the grille.

Well im not taking another chance on a re-pop, it had a bad bend in it, it was nearly and inch off on the drivers side, since it was only 35 bucks the body man said it would cost me more for him to try and fix it instead of just get another one. I'm not going to modify a steel one if i get it, it does look nice, but I don't have any time left, this guy has had my car for 8 months now and im ready to get this thing back. If nobody comes forth with any good info about the plastic or fiberglass ones then im just going to get the OT steel one.

JonK,
Just an opinion, rectangular (small size as for quad headlamps) would likely look pretty slick in that lower location. The round ones are too large and look out of place IMHO.

I bought the valance on my '66 from MustangsPlus. It's fiberglass and it fits very well.

Valence looks great and I like what you did with the emblems and bumpers.

I got mine from mustangs unlimited. Required some work, but wasn't to bad. The fenders and head lamp buckets were repo, so not sure which one was out but I fixed it on the valance.

@ hrspwr, thanks for the info about mustangsplus....i checked out their website and Maier makes that valance. I have read good things about their products. Just didnt want some chinese made cheapo injection molded piece of crap or a fiberglass piece made by a company thats more concerned about quantity than quality.
@mtaqua, i have aftermarked fenders from mustangs unlimited as well, and the shelby style hood. I was very disappointed with the lineup of the fenders, but for 1/3 the price of originals what do you expect huh? Anyway I am going to call mustangs unlimited and see who makes their valance, I have ordered most of my parts from them (mainly because i get my parts no later than 2 days after i place an order).
I appreciate the feedback from everyone.

I bought this one from Maier to use without the bumper and it did not fit anywhere so I finally gave up

I would not buy plastic when it doesn't fit how are you going to modify it?

I think it's dyna corn that Scott drake sells. It's a hard ABS of some sort. Fit really well actually. Problem was it took 4 tried before getting one that wasn't cracked in the same spot.

i bought a plastic one a number of years ago, but i have yet to try and fit it up. i believe i got it through autokrafters. it does seem though that it should fit reasonably well when compared to another fiberglass one i got many years ago that was on a car.

Well the purchase has been made. I ordered one from Mustangs Unlimited, they told me what company made it, but I cant find where I wrote that down, anyway I called mustangsplus and since im so far from them it MIGHT come in this week so i didn't order the Maier product, plus it had a hefty shipping charge on it. I'll just roll the dice here and hope I do alright. The only bad fiberglass I got from MU was my quarter panel extensions, they had to be completely cut up and reworked. The hood was OK, some trimming was needed. Anyway, hopefully it will be here tomorrow or the next day and maybe I can give some feedback. Thanks for the responses.
