play in the steering wheel

On my 94 ther is about 2-3 inches of play in the steering wheel what can it be?

im not sure what it is but i know that a good allignment shop can fix it

it drives down the road fine it just has that play in it

Your rag joint on your steering shaft is shot.
I had the same problem, the cure is to buy a new lower steering shaft (flaming river).
$250-300.
