Whenever it rains my stock 90 lx misfires and smokes heavily out off passenger side exhaust only. This originally started happening about a month after I installed MSD blaster coil, cap, rotor, and 8.5mm super cond wires. The coil arced so much I replaced w/ another one. The problem remained until I pulled the second Blaster coil and installed original coil that has 130K of use. It ran so much better w/ stock coil I couldn't believe it.
Then 2 months later it started again. Now only the right pipe smokes and it stinks of raw fuel. Is misfire causing 1 or 2 plugs to not fire. Is it time for new coil and plugs. Should I scrap all MSD products. Any one have experience w/ this? Please help Thanks

It sounds like a distribuator cap to me. Or plug wires to cap. Get a good cap like a MSD or something better than China made brands. Did you get those wires pre made or did you have to make them yourself?

The MSD Blaster coils are terrible. Are the Caps and rotors bad also. I ve had good luck with wires in the past. Since it only smokes on one side maybe its a bad cap or a lowsy fit over dist allowing moisture in. Or a hairline crack.
Can anyone recommend Accel or Ford if you think its coil or cap

Motorcraft is probably what I woud go with. I have Accel now, I had a problen with the Accel rotor not fitting on the shaft. Other than that no problems. Accel caps are an ugly snot color, if that matters to you.

No. Good question though. If FORD put the money into it I figure it must be necessary. What threw me off going that way was that only the pass side exhaust smokes. the smoke is consistant with misfire, so I'm thinking its ignition.

you have a faulty plug wire(s) or cap.. the water from the rain will cause the arcing wires to missfire, hence the smell of fuel, not burning, I have had no problems with msd, I have the full set up, coil, distributor,6al,cap,rotor. change the wires and run them away from exhaust best you can.
