my buddy had a 240sx he went and bought a skyline r32 turbo motor to put in it. befor he had a chance to change the motors he crashed his car. right now i can get a 66 mustang with a 6 in it drit cheap and i mean cheap. do you think id be crazey puting the skyline motor in the mustang.

you can certainly swap the nissan motor in the mustang, but why? the stock 200 can make a bunch of power given the right mods. there is a guy at fordsix.com in the forums who has a falcon with a turbo'd 250 that is knocking on the 10 second door. the 200 would be only slightly less powerful. classicinlines.com has a new aluminum head out for the small six that will support(not make) 400 normally aspirated horse power. mike also has cams available from clay smith designed for the six. headers also. i say buy the mustang, and build the stock six, and have some fun with the car. and check out fordsix.com for more on the six.

if you want to swap to a different six though, think about building a 300 big block six for your mustang. yes they have been installed in early mustangs, not from the factory though, and they rock like V8's do.

definately a good idea. im not saying everyone should run out an put import motors in their cars but this would ba a really cool, albiet difficult, conversion.

these motors are known for producing very stout numbers on stock short blocks, like the 4g63(EVO motor). not sure but i think it is aluminum block=lighter weight, though probably not much, than a v8.

ditch the factory sequential turbos put a good medium to healthy sized single turbo on there and your in business. everyone makes stand alone engine management for these so computer shouldnt really be a problem.

the tranny is a AWD tranny i think,but you should be able to mate it up to the 6 speed of your choice.

in sumation:

good power
good drivability
medium difficulty swap, easier than a modular, though im sure you'll crave more suspension once that motor is in
and lastly everyone hates you for putting a skyline motor in a mustang

The 4G63s are iron block, at least in the Eclipses.

RB26DET/RB26DETT blocks are big tough iron lumps. They have one big main cap/girdle assembly and I don't recall exactly, but I think a skirted block also. I think it's more impressive that some racers have wrung out the same power numbers from 2.3 turbos with about the same amount of work....

ya i wasn't sure about the aluminum block thing but tough as nails. they are iron in the evo as well, i blame the public schools system for my slaughter of correct grammer

id rather a 347 with super charger instead of a engine that dosent have any buisness being in a classic mustang but thats just me....

sell the engine and buy a small block....

you remember the movie Fast and Furious 3? They put the motor in there but in real life had to take it out to make it go up the hills lol. You have a car that screams american. Drop a v8 in there and make everyone afraid of ya!

i wouldn't do it. it's going to be a lot of work, and in the end your car will be worth a lot less. I agree with
Shifty, sell the engine and either buy a v8, or get some parts for the 200. if you're just dying to put something different in your car, then look at the 2.3l turbo or SHO engine.

Putting a SHO or 2.3L is going to be just as devalue'ing I bet. With putting a Skyline motor in it, you have the benefit of maybe finding a buyer who would find the uniqueness of it appealing? I dunno. I just did a regular 5.0 swap!

It would be cool looking when you open the hood and it would sound great too. Still, I bet you could go faster for less if you sell it and find a sbf to put in there. Cost no object, speed no object, resale value no object - just for fun it could be a great project.

I don't believe that is accurate. The Nissan makes plenty of power to get a 2800lb car up hills.

i'm not sure how accurate it was, but a while back i read in some magazine that the FF3 car with the import engine was just for show, and in all of the action shots they used big blocks.
