Please don't street race

Thread should be titled "learn how to drive, people" ...

But yeah, :Track: Street racing is gay. I will mess around with my friends on the interstate sometimes but when I think of street racing, I think of 2 Fast and 2 Rice ... and that makes me want to shoot myself in the eye :nonono:

Some of those rides were toe down!

i bet you over 90 percent of those accidents happened from roll races. Roll races is what caused the increase in accidents and that. Its a ricer thing. Race form a dig for a 1/4 mile. Street racing is not starting from 40 going to 140 weaving in and out of traffic. Thats call stupidity. If you cant handle the power dont upgrade your car. That is what the other 10 percent of those accidents probely were. Roll race people give street racing the wrong image. Granted its not safe either way, but street racing has been around forever and will always be around. I personally go to the track just because i have to much money into my car and my county has a policy if you are caught street racing they take your car and sell it at an auction and your arrested.

i think 99% of us have done it. its only natural to want to kick it when another fast car pulls up beside you and revs at you! i know i have done it MANY times but it is always on a open road not in traffic. i know that doesnt make it right but i try to be as safe as possible if i ever do it.

Yea, most of these cases are kids who think that their one or two years of experience makes them a pro. They can't drive as well as they think. Daily driving and racing are two different things. Also, you can be the best driver in the world, but if you hit a pot hole or slick spot at 100 mph, you're screwed. That's why I don't do it anymore, the track is a lot less likely to have those types of defects than the streets.

What people dont know is that ALOT of the "belived street racing accidents" occur because retards are

A. racing in traffic
B. racing in the rain/damp weather

And FYI here, only 72 people IN THE ENTIRE US died in 2000, due to "believed street racing accidents" .
THEN "the fast and the furious" came out in 2001 and that # rose to 154 (135 according to other sources). :nonono:

Now racing from a roll in general is MORE dangerous...but in F&F, not only did the movie justify roll racing, but freegin racing in traffic and driving under trucks and crap.....THATS why its in the 100-200 range now. Idiots think they can race around corners and in and out of traffic and be safe :nonono:

Basically 150 people is definatly more than we would like to see (re: 0) ...but in reality THEY ARE MAKING WAY TO BIG OF A DEAL ABOUT IT!

Just to compare here in 2002, 1550 people died from JUST BEIND TIRED AT THE WHEEL! (also irresponsable) But do we see the cops taking someone to jail or impounding their car if they are cought while driving tired? NOOOOOOOOOOO!

Will a mom make a HUGE deal over people who drive tired vs people who street race, if her kid was killed in an accedent involving one or the other? NOPE!
^The above is EXACTLY why street racing is all puffed up to be some huge problem.

Arresting people for street racing is complete :bs: ...its not big enough of a problem. More people die from putting Q tips up their noses to far...I say that street racing should be a nice ticket/fine as if you were speeding/collectivly speeding.

And now that my rant is over, I feel for everyone who has died....and can only say that I wish people would be smarter about where/when they will race if they (and we know they will) do. :nonono: I especially feel for the few innocent people involved...they didnt desirve it. Nor does anyone who is killed when someone makes a stupid (yes its stupid) decision to race.

(Note: I do not condone street racing or support it.....I simply think too big of a deal is made about it. )

who cares. more people die from falling coconuts in 1 year in the US than that. its not an epidemic and the less the media would care, the quicker it would go away, yet we continue to glorify it in movie and especially commercials now.

sadly ALL of the accidents i have seen due to streetracing, are from 2 low end imports, and are all caused by another "innocent" car that failed to yeild to normal rules of the road (IE pulled out in front of them, merged into them, etc).

Streetracing, the "organized" Fast and Furious way, has been done for a while now. its mostly freeway runs late at night with nobody in either horizon, well, at least thats how we do it now. and of course, after a late night with the girl coming home you pull up to a light, and some other guy pulls next to you with an equally competitive car, and its only natural to run them. I have done it, my Father has done it, and his Father and father before him. does not make it any more right, but you know what, its not like treason like how theyre treating it now, punishable only by death.

THAT is EXACTLY why street racing is a Bad Thing -- "normal" drivers aren't expecting to be checking the intersection for a car approaching at 130mph. (And they shouldn't have to.)

Sorry man, but with that single statement you just proved you're a moron.

i think it is funny that most people on here say street racing is gay blah blah blah. but none of those people can tell me that they have never ever done it. i dont agree with it either but have done it.
