please help 4.6 rod knock!!

hey guys.. i have 96 gt.."the one that overheated and now has milled heads" anyways ..its got a loud tick .. took off the valve cover and its all looks fine .. it now recently has a rod knock...i owe more money on this car that i could ever sell it for ..i also make not alot of money im only 20..and am making payments and so on on the car still.. soo what is the best of my options? how much can i geta 4.6 froma junkyard for any idea?? these are expensive engines im guessing.. any idea what i should do .. i cant pull this one out and rebuild it casue its my daily driver..and i cannot be out of a car.. so i guess my only option is to put a new engine in .. another thing i was wondering is ... is there any way to put a windsor in there? any way i can put a5.0 ho in ..it would be cheaper to build no to mention i am alot more familiar with it ..but then id need a trans hu? any help would be much appriciated..i really dont no what to do ..

if you really have a rod knock, and the engine is on it's last leg, i don't think it's time to freak out. 4.6 engines are not terribly expensive.

go to places like www.car-parts.com, www.stangparts.com, and maybe a few others. you'll find engines for less than a grand with reasonable milage if you're just looking to do a replacement. i just went to car-parts, and found 30+ pages of 96-98 4.6's to fit for between 600-1000. don't go the 5.0 swap route...you'll be getting into a whole can of worms.

they are more expensive than 5.0 motors to modify, but really no more expensive to buy.

Lube it up with some thick oil and take that fooker to the local Carmax.
