Just got done with the 331 stroker build. Get it in the car an it won't start. It turns over but won't start.

I completely removed the SMog, egr an conditioning, brackets and all.

But now i am lost. What hose or plug goes on the back of the Fuel pressure reg.

We have spark, we have all that ****. But it just won't go.

Any help on where those hoses goes, like all the hoses from the Intake.

I have a typhoon intake, so anyone that could help with pictures explain what needs to be run from there out.

Just trying to think of anything.

PLEASE HELP LOL

Do the injectors fire? Are the plugs wet? Is the timing 180* out?

We checked compression an thats good.

The fuel pressure is at like 36

the spark plugs are fine.

we are checking the fuel injectors now.

But with the timing we are having a problem. I have the typhoon intake an the stock Distributor is to big, meaning we really have no room to turn it. Any suggestions on that part.

And i believe we are having issues with the vacuum lines. What needs to have vacuum to it, since we took off the entire smog, a/c and egr, meaning no brackets or anything left of that stuff.

What plugs into the fuel pressure regulator, i see it has a vacuum line, but where is that line coming from.

like when we turn it over, it sounds like it wants to start, but then it just stops. Like it doesnt have the heart to start.

What is the issue? Does it crank but not catch, or does it not really even crank over?

If you haven't checked the injectors yet, how do you know the plugs are fine? The plugs could be fouled, or if they're bone dry you know fuel isn't squirting.

What is the timing set to right now? Are you sure it was installed on the TDC compression stroke?

The FPR gets vac from the inlet - the line is a few inches long.

My step dad took the plugs out an looked at them. Its getting fuel, the gauge said 40.

The distrib is at 12 degrees he said right now. Something about at 4 top dead center.

It cranks over good. Just doesn't catch.

and he said it was installed on the tdc compression stroke.

i have a aftermarket intake. Even if i was thinking about the stock i draw a blank lol.

I got the car started, it was the timing. But it won't start without giving it throttle from the TB. It won't stay running because the timing is way off. so tomorrow i my step dad is going to adjust throttle body set screw or something.

Also got my chip in, but without the timing right, it doesn't matter.

If its not running because the timing is way off, I wouldn't adjust anything else. I would get the timing closer. Are you running a 45* throttle body adapter? If so, some don't have provisions for the fpr to get vacuum from the stock location. Some have a allen plug on the top of the back side by where it hooks to the intake. You pull the plug out and use the vacuum t from your stock intake. This link shows an alternate location that you could use to get vacuum for the fpr.

The vacuum fitting that they say is the stock piece didn't look anything like or was it in the same location as mine. But gives you an idea where you can get your vacuum from. Here is another link that may help.

heres a couple of pics of my explorer intake. I have the pp throttle body adapter. Thought these might help.

The second pic is a closeup of the vacuum t I was talking about. The fpr would hook up to the small nipple that I don't have capped off.

thanks a bunch man. That piece you have screwed into the adapter i have in my intake, so i imagine thats really in the wrong place lol.

The problem we kept running into was that the top intake part, doesn't have any stuff that my original did, meaning like on the underneath part it had lines an stuff that plugged in an my Typhoon top only has the big vacuum line.

I see you still have the egr thing on your adapter, i took that off an plugged the opening on the headers, because i got the chip.

But i really appreciate the help, its going to really help.

The place you put the t in the second pic is the place where the ait sensor goes on a fox body. I beleive it needs to be plugged on yours. I imagine it would get vacuum there though. Where is the other end of that hose going?

The first pic, im not sure about. If I had to guess I would say its a vacuum solenoid for the egr or smog. Thats just a guess though.

The solenoid is the EVAP purge solenoid. The solenoid just dangles there. The line going towards the passenger side goes to the charcoal cannister. The line going to the driver's side goes to the intake.

where does it go on my intake. since i changed intakes i don't know where i could go now. Do i really need it, can i plug it.

whitesqual that piece you put on your adapter for the fpr, but where does the bigger part fit, i assume its a vacuum line, but a vac for what. On that piece where i have it hooked up, once is going to the fpr and the other little one is plugged, an the bigger one i have no clue where he has it ran.

Sorry so many questions, this is my first build. My step dad is a chevy guy an hates ford, an doesn't know to much about fuel injection, keeps beggin me to carb it lol.
