please help I.d my engine

I just purchased a 1990 gt 5.0. I was told by the previous owner that the engine was replaced 2 owners ago. Ws told it's still a 302? and is a windsor??
Hw can I i.d this engine? it runs great but I'd just like to know what i'm starting out with. Are there numbers on the block and or heads I can use???

also when I set the ignition timing, what part of the stationary timing tab do I us?? the round circle cut out, the notch in the middle or the point at the other end?

Should be casting #'s on the block behind the starter and head numbers visible with the valve covers removed. I would go with the point for timing.

if it's not a 302 and it's a v8 then that's good, means its bigger than 302. Or I guess it could be a 4.6 who would put that much work into it? What is the firing order that will tell if it's an HO.

yeah you have a 302 HO. Unless it's a 351 in wich case even better.
