Please help me properly build my motor...what would you do?

O.k so my best friend and I both have '98 GT's and are ready to start building them and for now plan on keeping the stock shortblocks. I have been doing a lot of searching and have seen many mods listed but would love to hear from people who have actually done it.

So short of building the shortblock what would you do to make these cars faster?

Yes the only mods that the car has done right now is 4:10 gears, subframe connectors and that's about it. Everything else is bone ass stock.

How much money is in your budget and what are your goals for the car?

Well I am thinking about $3k for mods or so and as it's an auto I want to keep it a good daily driver that I can take to the track and have some fun with on weekends.

headswap to ported PI with cams. plenum and TB, headers and X pipe... doing all the work yourself would put you around 4k, but be the best bet aside from a blower.
