Im gonna try a channel lock tool and some other doo-dad from AutoZone ( yes I actually said Doo-Dad on this forum 
) So we'll see what happens !!

Got everything in, even that dumb spring. 
I drove it, feels fine. Odd thing is that now the Emergency brake light on the dash is on and won't go off. Whaaaaaaaaaaaat.................

The emergency brake light is triggered by a sensor under the center console. The switch is depressed when the parking brake handle is down far enough. Sounds like the sensor is either misaligned or has failed.
