Looks real nice, but that automatic would be a deal breaker for me. I’d hate to spend that money, to still be saying “I wish I had a stick”.
And I wouldn’t want to convert what looks to be a pretty original Saleen. My .02 for what it’s worth.

Factory airbox and fan shroud is gone. Also, I see a MAF on the intake tubing. I thought MAF didnt start until '89. Or was it different and introduced in '88 for a Saleen? These things considered, how "original" is it really?

Edit: I browsed a little and discovered that some 88's with Cali emissions were MAF equipped

All Cali '88's were MAF.
Nevada car probably came from Cali.
It's missing the Saleen wheels. I'm pretty sure they had the 5-lug conversion.
To the OP, buy it now. It's rare & appears to be in very good condition.
I had an intern & she had an '89.
If it were closer, I would buy it.

It's not completely original. I don't Believe saleens came in AOD so the trans has been swapped along with the wheels and intake track.

However for that price I'd be all over it. I'd have to swap it back to 5-SPd though

C4 was not available on the Mustang in 1988. Only the AOD was. Saleens were geared towards road racing and 5-spd.

If you really want to know, get the VIN and call up saleen and ask. They will tell you exactly how that car was optioned out for original equipment.

You can also do a marti report.

That windshield banner is also not the correct banne for 1988.

Still a good deal but there's a few items needed to put it back to original.

Also, does the radio look like this? If so that IS the originsl Saleen equipped radio.

I'd do you own homework and not trust the appraisal report. Give Saleen a call with the VIN

What’s up with the brake fluid reservoir? Is that correct? Looks like and older style reservoir. Looks like there’s no smog pump either, based off the belt routing.

Yes, it's correct. Saleens used the SVO brakes and older MC as their base brake setup with a few upgrades

I would be suspect of the appraisal unless it was done befor the modifications, can't see the date, missing/wrong parts are the reason for the price being what it is.
