Hi, I had the hardest time installing this fender. It took me hours to get everything lined up. I removed the doors to weld a hindge that was cracked. The passenger side went in with no problems but I spaced it out to match the driver side.

Is this crack (or gap) normal for 5.0 Mustangs? Any closer and the door rubs the fender. I also had to hit the bottom part of the body to get the fender to fit in. The car wasn't in an accident or anything either.




Oh and there is some black paint that will make the gap look like crap. That's because I painted behind the fenders and door jams before putting everything back together.

That is definetly nothing to worry about. It's a mustang, not a BMW or mercedes.. expect imperfections like that!

gap looks fine, you should see it with the body kit. Thats not bad at all man

Looks ok to me also. Maybe due to age and a few mild (lol) launches, the chassis twisted a little and that's causing panels not to align right up. You have subframes on this car now right???????????????

I've heard stories from guys who worked at FORD dealerships who had brand spanking new 5.0's come in to the dealership with miss-aligned body-panels! If a customer complained, I heard all they did was insert a few shims here and there to align the panels up.

If the door opens fully without rubbing on the fender then you should be ok.

Thanks guys... I dont think this car has ever seen any hard launches as it came with a 2.3L with an automatic lol... Getting sub frames later this summer once everything else is working

Those gaps are fine. The main thing you need to worry about when setting panels are the consistancies of the gaps. I see it's a little wider at the top,but it's no big deal. You also don't want panels too close together,because the paint in the gap will flake off later due to the panels rubbing together after you add a few mils of primer and paint materials to each panel. The more noticable gaps on the Mustang's fenders are going to be at the cowl panel (both in height and the gap),and the gap between the hoodline and fender. Trying to line all the panels up is a *very* a tedious process,and other posts are correct,hardly ANY car out there has perfectly hung panels straight from the factory. It's just the fact that we really don't notice them until we start screwing around with them and start thinking "....it couldn't have been that way before!...or could it....???"
