A throttle body and a plenum are part of a complex induction system in your 4.6. The throttle body is a device that is attached to the front of your plenum. It controls the air that goes into the engine with it's butterfly (circular brass disc). The throttle body attaches to your intake (or stock airbox). The plenum is the large device after the throttle body(TB) that has the big mustang logo on it. It houses IAC valve and directs air down to your intake manifold (which should be black if yours is stock). Replacing your TB with a larger one usually is benefitial if you have a larger intake to suit it. The stock airbox with a new TB might see a few gains, but where the air is pinched it becomes a problem. Replacing the TB and Plenum and Intake would provide you with the most airflow for your money if u dont ever plan on getting a new full intake system. The P51 is the only new system i am aware of which replaces your intake manifold and plenum and I think comes with a new TB. But if you're looking for some good gains here what I did: K&N FIPK, 75mm TB, and the Accufab Plenum.

Hey, he asked for info, I gave him the link. I didn't say it was me.

There are alot of pics in that article, and I thought that it would help.

Although I'm not a track whore, I have been. Last month at LTI night at the Motorplex we were rained out.

Be-atch!

haha....just get the rear end and tourque box's done and throw some slicks under her....

Seriously though, for people that don't know, Matt did an awesome comparison on plenum/tb's for everyone. He deserves a bit of thanks for putting in the time to share his results.

Start reading Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords, and 5.0 Mustang and Super Fords magazines. Then you'll know quite a bit on our 4.6's.

I need to get the rear work done. I'm just afraid of twisting a 28 spline axle with some sticky tires.

I'm also waiting on getting the KB kit.
