I am currently fighting a arcing issue with my current (brand new)
set of red Ford Racing plug wires. Arcs at the boot as well as arcing on the valve covers..
See sig..
The car also has headers which make for a VERY tight fit between the 1965 shock towers...
I need a set of plugs that do well with heat and limited space...
Suggestions?
Thanks,
Scott

Are you using steel plug separators?

If so you might want to switch to plastic ones.

I have a set of Taylor 8mm wires with plastic Moroso separators and have never had that problem.

I have plasic separators.
Is it possible that the new set of plug wires are bad?

How can they arc on the valve covers? Raise the hood at night and look for sparks to see where it is arcing. Use dialectric grease at all boot ends and make sure they're installed all the way.

I had a set of MSD wires go bad in less than a year. Just one of those things. I replaced them with a cut to fit set from Summit with the angled plug boots. It's been almost 5 years now. I'm sort of anal when it comes to wires under the hood. I actually spray vinyl dressing on all the wires under the hood to help them stay softer and not crack, plus it smells good too!

if they are sparking at the boot, you can use those heat resistant socks.

I use the MSD wires with some slip on protective boots. They have the straight rubber boot that I put a slight bed in to get perfect clearance from my headers.
