Time to change my plugs.. (and or wires.. and maybe Cap / Rotor) any suggestions on a mildly effective performance boost type purchase for an 03 GT - 5 spd / 34k miles.

You don't have a distributor cap.
You don't have a rotor button.
You don't have spark plug wires.

If I were you, I'd run Autolite Platinum Pros, part number APP764 Gap them at .054

These are just like your stockers, you won't see any performance gains from spark plug change unless you've got other mods or you're wayyyyyyyy overdue.

Yep! Same here. These are cheap and copper is more conductive. I have no problem changing plugs every 7K-10K or so, which is about the extent of their life span, and this gives me the chance to read them - which can tell you alot about what's going on inside...

Stay away from platniums, run simple copper plugs.

I just put in Autolite 764s last week. Would definately recommend them. They're cheaper than factory, you can get them anywhere (even Wal-Mart, but watch out for falling prices!!!) and copper sparks a little hotter/better than platinum. Sure they don't last as long, but as stated above, changing them more often gives you a chance to see what's going on in there.

Ugggg, why do ppl still say to gap Platinum plugs. Gapping them ruins them, so don't even both. Check them with a feeler gauge if you think it will be off.

The only plugs that should not be gapped are the Bosch +4's....and those suck in our cars.

It's true that you have to be careful not to damage the platinum tip, but you should check (and adjust, if necessary) the gap to ensure proper engine operation. I don't know about you guys, but every spark plug I have bought has needed some type of gapping (platinum or otherwise).

Well if you're bending the tip to gap it, I'm sure you could damage it...but, then again, if this is how you gap your plugs, maybe you should be paying someone else to chg your plugs.

Thanks for the info guys... I guess you can tell I havent dove into the hood yet... Its my first pony since high school... and I never messed with that one.. My last car was a 95 jeep.. and I did minor work on it.. hence the cap and rotor comment.. maybe i was trying to look smarter than I pretened to think I was... I dont mind being called out though.. I deserved that.. Autolites it is... Can somebody post a quick walkthrough about gapping them.. I wont pretend to know what that means.. Although I have dated two women with gaps in their teeth...

Simple. Don't buy platnium plugs and then you never need to worry about the problem with gapping them.

Huh? Gapping a copper plug or a platinum tipped plug is done the same way.

I run them in both of mine and I love them. but then again I check every plug before I buy them (I can understand y some might have problems) and make sure to be carefull when I install them.

but if there is something I should know then please tell me. when i first got them no one knew anyhting about them. I just based everything off my track record with bosch and the theory behind the design.
