I am thinking about switching to a PMS system. A guy I know has one it is brand new and he wants $600 for it. I was wondering how they are. Is this deal worth it? How much are you able to tune with it? Are they easy to use? Just questions like that. Any information would be great. I know people on here have them and I was wondering how they liked them.

Thanks,
Dave

Personally, I like mine (the version 4 type). I can make changes and see if the car responds positively or negatively. They are easy to use, but at the same time it takes some time and patience to learn how to use them.
Post this in the tuning section and you will get more replies.....

It is a great system, if it is a series 4 then that is a good deal. It takes a little while to learn it but once you do you will have it tuned in no time. A wideband A/F gauge is a great tuning tool to have with the PMS, makes it a lot easier on your thumbs!

He's probably talking about the map sensor which is like 90 bucks.

if you are getting that for 600 you are getting a real good deal. IMHO you could do with or without a wideband 02. I know dyno shops that do air fuel pulls for about $50. You could tune it as best you can reading plugs/seat of the pants, etc, go dyno it and see how you are doing, and get your a/f dialed in after you make your pull.

The only reason i say to get a wideband is that if you live in a region where the climate can change drastically, the wideband is a great tool for keeping an eye on things. A lot of guys use the LM-1, i chose the Dynojet wideband commander only for the fact that it can datalog and it matches my other phantom gauges and fits in a standard 2 1/16" pod. Good Luck!
