Polishing sucks period. I started my intake, im about 3/4 the way there, but just dont feel like finishing it. If i did it again i would pay some polishing company to do it, well worth the money IMO. Or better yet, try and score an already polished intake in the classifieds or ebay.

My wife bless her heart, she made dinner for me that night. I spend alot of free time down in the basement working on that darn thing. I ended up reheating dinner as it was cold by the time I got upstairs. If you chose to hand sand the intake it would take twice as long. Best thing I have found is a Mouse sander with 80, 120, and 220 grit. After this you will have to hand sand with the 320 and 400 grit. I bought an intake polishing kit from the Eastwood Co. which has sanding rolls, both tapered and straight. By the way, I will take some updated pics as the intake looks much nicer now.

well I purchased an angle grinder and all the sandpaper I need last night. I'm going to try polishing my stock intake before I do anything with the edelbrock. If the polish comes out good on the stock intake, I'm going to port it as well and maybe try to get a few bucks out of it. As bad as it sounds, I'm doing the stock one for fun because I have NOTHING else to do.

wow that does sound pretty bad. Working on a stock piece because you have nothing else to do Post pictures of the progress and you can do my stock intake if you want to too

well, i started doing mine today, worked on it about two hours. I got the air grinder on it with a brillo pad to get the powdercoating off, i think it's comming along rather nicely. not too bad. im gonna go get some sand paper tomorrow. I appreciate the help guys!

do you guys think it would be ok if i started polishing my intake while it was still on my car? Need to minimize downtime as much as i can so i figure why not, im only polishing the parts you can see and im going to use an electric sander.

That would be fine... Just throw some towels around it so you wont get dust and polishing compound all over your car.

I was thinking the same thing If you can, just take saturday and sunday one week to polish it up... Thats what I'm going to be doing this weekend since I dont have to work Pictures will also be posted

is there a place where I can get a new placque for the top? I have a cobra sitting here to replace the GT40 I have. The plaque is kindof scratched up.

I am already porting and polishing the inside and lower runners.

also, how do I clean out all the fine metal dust inside the runners?

I got the pre polished Typhoon Intake, but then had to "repolish" it because it had ugly yellowed clear coat and looked like A$$.

Hey here is a good website for polishing supplies and information, the people are great and will answer your questions in their forum. I'd love to get started on a polishing project if I were to pick up an extra intake somewhere. . . Or maybe do it to the stock one and buy a Typhoon or something.
