poll..what kind of water pump for a '69 408w?

These are just a few of the pumps that I found in my short search. I currently am using a stock unit on my old 351w. I will be building the 408 late next year, so what water pump is the best. I want to retain the heater!

The motor will see 4-5 day driving in heavy traffic. If you post a different pump then listed, please post a link and price with it.

Buy the Edelbrock. Makes sense for the street, flows really well, and it will keep your heater working.

definately an aluminum pump. i like the flow-kooler pump personally.

summit has them and they are guite a bit cheaper than the e'brock, the weiand pumps are about the same price as the flowkooler pumps also.

I got a tip from a friend that vintage races...
The early 289s had a factory aluminum w/p.
It requires the matching timing cover...
The pump can be had at Auto Zone or such for around 20.
It is very compact and light, along with cheap.
The radiator lower hose goes to the other side though.
I have an early timing cover and will be replacing my radiator, so this is how I am going.
Another good thing about this pump is that it mounts low on the timing cover, giving it a very clean look compared to the later pumps that mount high overlapping the timing cover.
My friend races these pumps and says the flow is fine. If you just have to flow more though, you can install a anti-cavitation impeller.
Just a thought.
Cheap, clean install, compact, light, etc...
I guess it just depends on if you are planning a new radiator soon.

I would run one of the aluminum pumps from flow-cooler or edelbrock. If you want to keep the stock style fan. When I had my T/A I was looking into the Meziere and I never heard a bad thing about them.
