The new GTO uses a LS1, I guess its a good motor if they still use it. Get your facts straight meanngreen94, and you talk like a company would use the same engine forever, remember ford did switch to a 4.6 in 96. BTW a 289 has a 4 inch bore like the 302 but has a 2.87 inch stroke verses 302 3 inch stroke.

you're talking about the 2004!!!!. the 2005 has the LS2 so what the hell is going on. I'd like to hear from someone else who isn't for some reason very adamant about this issue

ls1 isn't bad, its quicker than the 5.0 and 4.6 outta the box. As for the 351W, i don't know where you're going with that.

The 03 and 04 cobras are a 4.6. Does that mean its slower too????

Looks like everyone is pissed. I understood what the man was trying to say the first time. WHAT IF Ford had matched GM in cubic inches and went with the 351 with alum. heads on top of that. The R cam with iron heads and made like 300 horses. SO, if Ford did go with an alum. headed 351 to match the LS1, it would have smoked that ass.
