ok i just got done replacing the head gaskets on my car and now when i start it up it runs like $hit. I have the timing at 14 deg, and when its trying to idle its like it backfires into the valve covers. If you give it some gas to keep it running it will sputter a little and a dull fffooompp will come from inside the driver side valve cover. Ive never seen this before do you guys have any ideas??? thanks alot!

yep... timing

Double check your wires are in the proper firing order, and that the Rotor is pointing at the number #1 terminal on the cap when its at/near TDC.

Otherwise there is a surging idle checklist on here your gonna want to troubleshoot from.

Good Luck.

But this sounds like firing order to me. Runs crazy wierd. Forsome reason even when I get the engine lined up right, it's still 180 degrees off.

ok cool, ill check my firing order again i probly got a wire out of place somewhere so ill try that and let ya know back. Yea that always ticks me off when you think everything is right and you drop the dizzy in and she 180 out, then have to pop it out and try again, o well trial and error
