Porting E7tE

I am planning on porting a set of E7's and adding GT40 1.94/1.60 valves. I have access to a valve grinder and plan on doing all the porting and polishing myself. I want to know from people who have done this what their flow rates where and the combos and results either hp or 1/4 mile times. if anyone who has done this or any machinists that would have an idea on the cost to cut the heads for the valves and install the seats only as I plan on taking care of the unshrouding and blending. I also welcome any words of wisdom for the port work. I have several sources including mouse's diy porting and the article on the corral but welcome any other help. Please I am well aware of the fact that these heads suck and that aluminum heads are the way to go but I don't have the cash or interest and prefer to gain some experience in porting....and yes I will flow them when finished to make sure they are balanced.

You might have fewer potential clearance issues if you use the GT40 racing valve sizes of 1.85"/1.55"

I would also not take the pushrod pinch runner width past 1.025".

I am planning on doing something very similar...however i dont know if i want to oversize the valves. I will be getting a 3 angle valve job along with the rest of the head work and i was wondering if that would require me to upgrade or at least replace the valves? I would guess that your setup would yield about 10-15 rwhp....you can only open them up so much. hey i have another quick question...what are the exact differences between the E6's and E7's. I will be using the E7's off my motor now, but i have complete E6's with only 50k miles on em... i was wondering if the valves are the same size and if so is it even worth it to swap em.....valves are pretty cheap? I wish aluminum heads werent so much $$$$$!

E6-E7 difference

I am not sure of the difference between the E6's and E7's. I have considered the gt40 1.85/1.55 valves but figured that if I am going to pay to have them cut I may as well go all the way. Tri state cylinder head in Indy said the will hog out the bowls and insert the seats for 250 a set. Surely there is someone on this forum that has done this before??

E6's are not very good from what I have heard, they shrowd the valves. I run Thumper ported E7's with standard size valves. I am considering upgrading the valvetrain to the GT40 valves after seeing the sucess of 25thMustang.

I would do the GT40 route , or just get some old 305 chevy heads and get the intake valves out of them ....I think they are 1.84s and stick with the stockers on the exhaust side ......

I ran a set of E7TE's with 1.94 x 1.6 vlvs, no clearance issues and made decent power but if had to do over I would have used 1.9x1.6 valves.

Avoid the E6's they have a heart shape chamber that hurt power, as far as valves goes I'm pretty sure they are same size as E7TE's 1.78x1.45.

CNC E7's

check out this site: www.powerheads.com, they got CNC'd heads with bigger valves for about $650, you should go with those and avoid the hassle of doing it yourself. I read in a book I got they made 38 hp more than stock E7's with no other changes. Check it out!
