Guys, i have my intake off because im finally changing my loud, worn out lifters. Since i have my explorer intake off, and i have some grinding wheels, i was wondering if there is anything worth-while i can do? i did notice that the casting inside is really rough, but is there anything i can do to it that will help? OR, is it my heads anyway that are the bottleneck and it isnt worth it? thanks!

I like the freebie stuff and making stuff "fit"...While its out why not tune it up some...Whats its worth??? Gotta help some where...
I use to run the Explorer....The middle pic is the upper...If I remember right...the TB to elbow really needed some work to flow good....the 2 surfaces kinda "crashed" at the upper...

For one I would gasket match it..... The 93 Cobra I run needed some grinding..

I matched it then ported down as far as I could just cleaning up the casting and maybe a tad more...

You can apply the same to the lower....My trusty grinding tools... :D

FWIW....you can do it before or after but I use spray GUNK engine brite...the foam stuff to clean it out real good after the porting....the stuff pulls 90% of the Black crud out along with the grindings and won't hurt the paint...
Let it soak for a bit then put the garden hose right to it...It'll be mint inside...
You wanna stuff rags in the ports to keep the chips entering to a min but you get the idea..
