Well, first question is, which rear end do you have? You either have 7.5" or 8". I bought mine off ebay, the whole center section. So I unbolted everything, took the axles out, drained it, bolted the new one in, and filled it with fluid.

I'm sure it wasn't that easy, but that's what I remember.

The rear end in the car is what i believe to be the stock one. Anyone know what it was from the factory?

If I remember right, aren't the 74-77 Mustangs all 7.5" rears? And the 78 you could've had a 7.5 or an 8"?

I think you may mean the 6.75" but I thought the difference was that some 4 cylinders got the smaller diff, and the V6/V8 cars all got the 8"...

The 7.5" was used in 79 and newer(Fairmont-based) Mustangs, as well as the Ranger (some 2.0 litres got the 6.75"), Bronco II, and Aerostar

I Bought mine off ebay also well at least the Trac-loc unit then I contacted the guy and he built the entire pumpkin for me with 3.40 gears he had laying around promised satisfaction guaranteed 600 bux --PM/email me I'll send you his info

Currie Enterprise and others wanted 800-900 dollars.

Removal/installation was the same a Gael except I needed an axle puller on one side rented for $8.00

Bro:

I would consider a powertrax

www.powertrax.com

P/N 1810.

The unit replaces the spider gears, it can be installed in your driveway in an hour, without special tools or need to re-lash the gears. wow, I sound like a salesman.....oh wait

If I ever get rid of my spool, this is the unit I am going to buy!

This Forum is sponsored by a Speed Shop! It would be a conflict of interest for me to quote you a price, besides I come here to duck the fog, not work Oh, and then there is the distance thing (Canadian eh!)
