I haven't had time to look into the problem yet but here is what is happening. On acceleration the RPMS stay high after I take my foot off the accelerator, as though cruise control is on. Tapping the pedal lightly will bring the rpms back down to idle almost like there is a mechanical problem with the throttle cable. It is really upsetting because sometimes when I leave it in gear to coast and slow down the car maintains speed and sometimes even accelerates on its own. The rpms don't hesitate then drop they just stay around 2k and sometimes speed up to 4k if I let it. once again, touching the throttle pedal releases the RPMS just like tapping the brake during cruise control would. Very Toyota Pruis.
My thoughts are a crimp in the throttle cable, a malfunction with the accelerator pedal, the TPS being wonkey or the throttle body sticking.
Anyone dealt with this **** before?
