Possible for car to be stronger after oil change???

I changed oil today.

I was running 20w50 with some additive, dont remember the name.

Today i put in 10w40(castrol GTX highmilage) with some lucas.

What does the lucas stuff actually do anyway (feels like it did something)

But the car feels a tad faster, is this in my head or was it the oil, going from thicker to a thinner oil??

Well, thicker oil like 20w50 supposedly makes the engine have to run harder to produce power.. a thinner oil would theoretically make the engine have to run less hard to put out power.. so sure..it's possible.

Changing the oil should produce no benefits which you can tangibly feel (usually it requires ~15 HP gain to be tangible - feel it in the SOTP's).

But sure, after an oil change, the cars often 'sound' better, dont they? Ditto for after a plug change.

I am not a fan of any oil additive.

For what it is worth my car always feels faster after I wash and wax it. LOL
Like Sqarlic said the 10W-40 should be a little bit easier for the engine to pump around than the 20W-50. But adding lucas to it might actually make it harder that stuff is super thick. But whatever works for you is fine. I don't think you can go to far wrong as long as you stay away from stuff with teflon in it. For the record I run 20W-50 with no additives in the summer time.

Yeah maybe thats whats making the difference to me, the car sounds better.
I'm liking how it runs now, should i switch to 10w30 in the winter or what??
