I've noticed that many of the blower or turbo kits listed for the 05-07GT mustang have a note, showing manual only. I was wondering the reason for this. I've noticed it on the turbonetics turbo kit, and the ford racing kits as well, even the low pressure ford racing kit with no intercooler.

Obviously, the tunes provided are going to be specifically for the Manual computer, but they could easily make a tune for the automatics.

Do they beleive the automatic is weak? Will it stand up to 500hp at the flywheel? Seems you wouldn't want to go higher than that on the stock block anyway. I suppose it would depend a lot on the tune.

When driving my dads 06GT auto, it feels like throttle is pulled during the shifts. Certainly, this feature will help the transmission to live a LOT.

Im sure the weakness of the tranny may have something to do with this, but i know the automatic trannys cause some clearance issues for the turbo kits, as for the blower im not entirely sure what the case is.

Do a google on 5R55S and it should get you started in the right direction. The articles are long but I think they are saying the 5R55S is weaker.

Great link. I did some reading over there, and found all kinds of great information. Seems very few people have even tried to push this transmission. Seems the biggest problem is the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts, which are sycronous. Makes me wonder though... the stock GT pulls 10-30% of the power during the shift anyway, so we already have the code to pull more if desired, for durability.

I drive fairly intense in my car. Lots of quick acceleration boosts, got a heavy foot. ;)

It's been fine thus far. With a proper *balanced* tune it doesn't really rip on the auto tranny any harder than stock.

So if you want all out ballz boost and tire roasting I strongly suggest a manual.

I know 9-10 5R55S trannies that have given up the ghost when forced induction was added. Mine went after about 3000 miles at 10 PSI.
Third gear went bye bye. Even Fords "torque management" could not save it!

I now have the Level 10 Stage III 5r55S and their billett torque converter.
It performs much better! Supposed to be good up to 800 HP.
They also have a push button select shift setrup for the 5R55s, which is fully manual.
