Power Adders!!!!!

ok fellow mustang guys, i need power. i have a 2000 mustang with k&n air intake, off-road x-pipe with flows. 3.55 rear end gears. i need more power. i am getting tokico spring, shocks/struts. i have $500 to spend on horse. i was thinking about a shifter, but that adds no power. maybe i should get 4.10s, or camshafts. i just cant make up my mind...... i would like to get in the low 12s  . what do i need?

Forget the suspension, and keep saving until you have around 3500 and put a procharger on there. Then you will have some spped and not only be in the low 12s but would be trapping a good 113-115 MPH. Give the average cobra a good run.

Look into getting better traction. Wider profile tires, or if you willing to go all out, drag radials. Even though this isn't more power, it'll help apply the power you do have to faster starts. Since your thinking 12s. :)
4.10s wouldn't be bad either.

3.73 for manual, 4.10 for auto, the cheapest power adder for $500 is the juice, 150hp boost max, I would suggest getting a shifter either steeda triax or pro 5.0 they don't cost that much, your best bet is to save the $500 untill you get about $5000, and then get a Pro Charger kit with air to air intercooler, drag radials, ect...

No flame intended with this dude, but what’s your infatuation with the Procharger kits? Every time someone wants to get blown, no matter what the car, no matter what it’s use and no matter what their budget is, you always recommend the ATI’s like there are no other blowers out there? Are you getting a kickback from them every time you mention their product or something? :rlaugh:

Good advice hotmustang the ATI Procharger is worth saving
for.The Procharger is dyno proven to make more horses than
any non-intercooled system running at the same psi.The Procharger's
also have no hot oil lines and are self contained so,they are reliable
units.I highly recommend the Prochager! :nice:

Spoken like I guy who read that right off of an ATI page add in Muscle Mustang & Fast Fords. Show me where a non intercooled Procharger makes more power than a Paxton or a Vortech at the same boost levels. I’m not doubting that the Procharger is a nice set up, but I’m 100% sure you’re talking out of your @ss right now and am calling you on it!

how about forget the spring and struts for now.. and get the power mods.. .then when the cars fast fix the stance...

Forget the suspension

what good is power with a **** hole suspension setup?
He means because he’s not going to gain a whole lot at this point by upgrading to a drag suspension, so he should concentrate what little money he has on making power first. You’d be surprised how fast you can go on stock suspension components.

swap out the 3.55's and get 4.10's. after getting 4.10's wait to get some drag radials, that could possibly put you in the high 12's!

Yeah for like one run unil you snapped an axel. 4.10 + slicks = you better have strong 31 spline axels

...And Cams will cost more than $500.

Of course a intercooled system at the same psi will make more hp. They shouldn't compare their intercooled kit with others less expensive non intercooled kit. The other company's make comparable intercooled kits. They should at least compare them selves to a comparable system. Why doesn't procharger make a basic non intercooled kit that is more affordable? I have theory that since the do not have the terrible hot oil lines suppling fresh cooler oil to the head unit their inlet temps are higher than most and there for they are dependent on the intercooler.

Also lets say you have a intercooled procharger at 8psi manifold pressure making 390 rwhp in order for the the psi
to be at 8lb psi at the manifold it would actually have to make 10 psi before the intercooler this would allow for 8psi at the manifold since the intercooler is a restriction that must be overcame with more boost.
Ok now lets consider a vortech non intercooled system at 355 rwhp and also 8psi manifold pressure its only 35 less hp and the compressor is only making 8psi in stead of prochargers actually making 10psi at the compressor to over come the restiction of the intercooler. I see it like this procharger added about 2 psi at the compressor and an intercooler only to make 35 more hp than the non intercooled vortech. I have 3600 hundred invested in my set up . Thats with every support mod you see in my sig and the tune. Don't get me wrong I think prochargers are good systems maybe better than most but their marketing is a little deceiving.

the P1sc is far from reliable and the self contained oil is a PITA.

personally, i hate buying the same parts twice, so i'd skip the gears upgrade (especially if going w/a blower later on) and get the shifter, plus maybe a Predator flash tuner. That will give you some extra power for now, and later when you do get a blower, just order a custom tune from them and you should be set.
