Power gauge indicator moving to left/low

The power gauge indicator has moved a little bit to the left in the last few days. I was wondering what the cause of this can be. The car drives fine and all the electronics work fine (I have a radar detector, a Sony Xplod deck and a sub with a 600wt amp.). The car has 51k miles on it.
So what do you people think the cause of this can be? My best guess is the that I need a new battery . If so, what is a good battery to get, if there are any major differences between them.

Well...it is summer time. How hot is it up there in Michigan. The optimal running temp for a battery is about 85* F. If its hotter then that, it will output less. Same with lower. It is just likely that your battery is old. Maybe most of the iron(i think that is what it is...i can't remember exactly) has settled on the bottom of the battery. If you have a battery that can have water added to it, check the level on it, it could be low. There are a lot of different things that could be causing your battery gauge to read a little lower. Did you put on a set of under drive pulleys? I need a little more info to help you solve your problem.

Battery brands really don't matter anymore. Any battery bought from a known name store ex. autozone, advanced auto parts, oreillys, walmart, sears, .....will work just fine. Just get the right model for your car. Batteries are kinda like tires these days. There arent many crappy ones made because of warranty claims. Oh and speaking of that. Make sure to get one that has at least a 3 year warranty.

I like goin to Wal-Mart cause they'll check it plus if you buy it there and take it back even after the warranty period you get a credit toward a new battery. I had to switch mine out a few months back and it cost me $25 for a new one with trade of my old one. After that my alt. went out and I just got a used one of those.

Thanks guys Yes I do have the ASP pulley. As far as warmth the average is about 72.5 F, but my car does sit in the sun and it is black. But, I guess I'll just go get a new one.
